Socktober

Have you seen those sock barrels in the fellowship hall? They are running low! They need to be fed! Bring your socks to St. Peter and deposit them in the barrels to support “Socktober” and help those in need. We will be running Socktober through November 1, so you have plenty of time to make your “socknation” to the cause. Have a great October!

Dear Ladies of St. Peter:

In these trying times, many of the activities that normally take place around the church have been placed on hold--some have completely died out. In an effort to breathe a little more life into our church family, all of the ladies of the congregation are invited to come to a "lift-off meeting" on Saturday, November 14, at 11:00. This is an open meeting, for those of you who were involved in SNT, and for any other ladies who would like to take part in discussing and planning the direction we need to be taking. Do we just ride this out and wait to see what happens in the future, or do we see if there are things we can be doing right
now to keep our family connected and moving forward during these difficult times? If you are interested but unable to attend, feel free to contact me and send me your thoughts. I'd love to see as many participants as possible.

In Christ,
Karen Adams

Trunk or Treat – October 25

We want to reach out to our community, make connections, and get information about our church and preschool to the families in our area. We are planning on having a Trunk or Treat on October 25, 11am- 1pm in the parking lot of St. Peter. We’d love to have MANY cars that will be spaced out throughout the parking lot for this outreach event. We have 13 committed cars/trunks already. We’d like to have at least 20. We will supply Ziplock bags that you can put in candy and a flier about St. Peter. Handing out candy
is fun, but we want to get info about our church into the hands of as many people as we can. There is a signup sheet available today so we can start planning for this event.

Congregational Meeting

Next Sunday, October 18, after worship, we will have our quarterly congregational meeting. See how we are carrying out our mission as a church to Glorify God in Worship, Grow in the Word, and Go with the Gospel.

Save the Date for Welcome Home Sunday — October 25

Worshiping our God—listening to him speak to us in his Word and responding with our praise—is always special. However, it can be especially joyful when worship is packed. Think of the singing on Christmas Eve… or the way we need to set up chairs on Easter Sunday. Yet, even on those days, we have members who are out of town.

The goal of Welcome Home Sunday is to have a day when everyone that is part of our Christian family comes together. After all, church is supposed to be a home, and believers are kin. Our focus of worship on this day is the blessing of Christian community. Thus, we want 100% of our members there.

Please do everything possible to set that date aside so that we can pack our worship that day.

Signup for Purchasing “God Bless Our Native Land”

On the next page of the bulletin is an announcement about a small prayer book. We place one order for this in order to save on shipping and bring the price down. If you’d like to order these, there is a signup available or you can call the church office and let Debbie know. Orders are due this Tuesday, October 6.

Communion

For those who are not comfortable being in a larger crowd, or it is not recommended for them at this time, we will have communion offered Saturday, November 7, 9:00-10:00 am. To sign up for this communion opportunity, click here.

Outdoor Worship

As of right now, we plan on holding worship outdoors in our courtyard for the foreseeable future. With directives and requirements changing, we will adapt as we carry out the gospel ministry at St. Peter.

Masks in Worship

Recently, the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) issued guidance (not a mandate or order) for wearing face coverings. The guidance is that people are to wear face coverings while in inside public spaces, which would include churches. Persons with a medical condition, mental health condition, or disability that prevents wearing a face covering are exempt. This includes persons with a medical condition for whom wearing a face covering could obstruct breathing. We will continue to have Livestream available for our services for those who do not feel they can attend in-person worship at this time.

Are You Interested in Going on a Tour?

Pastor Schroeder is looking at the possibility of joining another WELS pastor in hosting a tour of Biblical sites. It would be an 11-day tour in which we would be visiting Greece, Egypt, Israel, and Turkey. Seven nights would be on a cruise ship traveling to different ports to see Bible places like Athens, Cairo, Jerusalem, Bethlehem, Cyprus, Corinth, and Ephesus. We are looking at going around April 5-16, 2021 (the week after Easter about 1.5 years from now, which would give people time to save for the trip). Flying out of San Francisco, the cost of the tour would be about $4897 per person. This price includes everything but some lunches
that would be on your own. If you want to ask what a tour like this is like, please talk with Kevin & Monica Hejnal or Walt & Darci Luihn, who recently went on an Israel tour with Pastor using this same tour company. Pastor is trying to find out what kind of interest there is in such a tour, so please let him know if this is something you think you’d like to do. If you would like to the proposed itinerary, you can see it at: http://bit.ly/tour2021_SP

We worship each Sunday at 10:00am
Worship is the beating heart of the Christian faith and an important part of life at St. Peter. We hope you join us soon!
