Bible Studies

Regular Bible study allows Christians to "grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ" (2 Peter 3:18). In Bible study we have the opportunity to dig deeply into the scriptures as we ask questions and discuss and apply the words of the Bible. At St. Peter we regularly offer a variety of Bible studies throughout the week. Some studies are topical and others will cover a section of the Bible. For a current listing of topics, times, and dates, click here.

Sunday School is Bible Study for children. Children age 3 through eighth grade gather by age group to study the basic stories of the Bible. Our Sunday School is offered year-round. Our goal is to instill in children a love for God's Word and develop in them the pattern of life-long study of the Bible.

Teens are not excluded from Bible study. Our high school teens gather each Sunday for Bible Study as well. Sometimes they study the same story as the Sunday School. Other times they will study a topic or section of the Bible. Teens are also welcome in the adult Bible class if they wish.

Service to Souls
Our pastors stand ready and willing to serve God's people in any way consistent with their office. Please contact them with any spiritual concern, or at situations like these:

Birth and Baptism
Upon the birth of a child, members are encouraged to inform the pastor shortly after the birth to make Baptism arrangements. Baptism can be administered at the hospital, in a private family service, or during a regular congregational worship service. It is important that Baptism take place as soon as possible after the birth. Sponsors (Godparents) or witnesses may be present.

Illness and Hospitalization
At times of illness no greater comfort can be provided than through the message of healing given by God in His word. The pastors welcome the opportunity to share that message when a member is ill or hospitalized. Members are encouraged to inform a pastor if such a visit is desired.

Shut-ins
When members are unable to attend regular services, the pastors will go to the home or location of the shut-in member to share God’s Word and administers the Sacrament. Please notify a pastor to schedule a visit.

Weddings
Tradition suggests that couples who plan to marry do so through their home congregation. The pastors willingly provide marriage services, but ask that the following guidelines be followed:

Contact a pastor to reserve a date and place for the wedding as soon as possible to avoid any conflicts with the use of the building; Attend a pre-marital counseling session with the pastor; Consult with the pastor as to any and all details concerning the ceremony. Non-member couples who wish to marry at St. Peter Lutheran Church are asked to contact one of the pastors. Such situations are handled at the discretion of the pastor.

Death and Burial
With death being the ultimate doorway through which one must pass from earthly life to eternal life, it is critical that a person be spiritually prepared. Personal ministry to the dying and to the family is a priority of the pastoral staff. Contact a pastor immediately when this ministry is needed. Christian burials are conducted by the pastors for members, as well as non-members, and their families who have been served by the pastoral staff.

Special Prayers
James writes, "The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective." If a member wishes the prayers of the congregation to be offered during public worship for a particular reason, the pastors will gladly do so at the member's request.

Personal Counseling
While our pastors and ministers are not professionally trained counselors, they are able to offer advice, pastoral experience, common sense support, and spiritual guidance for many difficulties faced by members. If professional counseling is deemed necessary, the pastors are able to make referrals to a professional Christian counselor.

Fellowship Activities
The members of St. Peter often find opportunity to gather outside our normal worship times for additional fellowship activities. These activities have included game nights, ladies' craft night, picnics, soup suppers, breakfasts, outings and many others. These activities give the members a chance to grow in their Christian friendships with one another. Visitors are always welcome to join in any of these activities. Check the calendar for a listing of these fellowship activities.

Groups
Several organizations exist within the congregation that support our work and mission.
